Closing ceremony of the Volunteers for language courses in Llagostera

Yesterday took place the closing ceremony of the Catalan courses and CPNL Language Volunteer Program, including course taught since October a group of service users Occupational Therapy Llagostera root of a cooperation agreement between the Foundation Ramon Noguera and Volunteering for the Language.

The presentation of the event, which was held in the multipurpose room of the occupational center of Llagostera, was in charge of the councilor and writer Maria Mercedes Roca. The event was also attended by Fermin Santamaria, Mayor of Llagostera and Josep Aliu, councilor for culture, had as protagonists users of the center have participated in the course, which could explain their experience together Sunyol with Carmen, the volunteer who has been conducting these courses.

Classes taught since October 2015, with weekly meetings between the volunteer and the project 12 people using the service, divided into two conversation groups, with the aim of improving their speaking in Catalan.

Volunteers for the Language (VXL) is a program to learn Catalan through the conversation. It is based on the creation of language pairs formed by a volunteer who speaks fluent Catalan, and an apprentice, who has basic knowledge and want to acquire fluency. The program began in 2003 and there have been more than 90,000 pairs. This program is recognized by the EU and adopted in Aran, Perpignan, Andorra, Valencia, the Balearic Islands, and also in Bolzano (Italy), Flanders (Belgium).
