Ramon Noguera i Sabater
The history of our entity lies in the figure of Ramon Noguera i Sabater (Girona, 1911-2000). A chemist and businessman from Girona, he made an outstanding contribution to the social sphere of the territory and was part of the Girona municipal council representing the family third from 1957 to 1964.
His entrepreneurial aptitude led him to create several companies in Girona, the most important of which was CADIE SA, recognized for the manufacture and marketing throughout the state of products such as Mistol.
From his marriage to Elvira Hosta Pujol, 2 sons and 3 daughters were born, one of whom had an intellectual disability. This fact led him to have a very special dedication to it and his dedication led to the creation, in 1965, of the Associació Pro-Minusvàlids Psíquics Àngelus, today the Grup Fundació Ramon Noguera.
We have come a long way.
The Àngelus Association was the first family association established in the province of Girona and promoted the formation of other associations throughout the Girona region. During the first decades of activity, between the 1960s and 1995, the association was supported by charity.
The pioneering approach and innovative vision of Ramon Noguera drove the creation of the first care centers, which have since evolved to become benchmarks in comprehensive care for people with intellectual disabilities.
The Ramon Noguera Foundation was established as a non-profit organization on December 15, 1995 with the firm intention of providing continuity to the management of these centers and services for people with intellectual disabilities in Girona and the Gironès region.
The associates agree that the new entity will be named after the founder of Àngelus in recognition of the work he began and developed over many years.
In November 2011, as a result of a strategic vision to promote the major areas of social and labor management, the Ramon Noguera Foundation led a future project to position the entity as a benchmark in the intellectual disability sector in Girona.
Thus, in January 2012, the Ramon Noguera Foundation Group was formed with the creation of two split foundations: Fundació Montilivi, specializing in the social area, and Fundació Mas Xirgu, specializing in the socio-labor area. The Ramon Noguera Foundation continues as the central axis of the entity's services for people with intellectual disabilities.
On November 24, 2016, the incorporation of the Onyar La Selva Foundation into the Ramon Noguera Foundation Group was formalized, effective in January 2017.
The Onyar La Selva Foundation managed social entrepreneurship programs and social and labor integration itineraries for people with intellectual disabilities and, therefore, shared with the FRN Group the mission of working to improve the quality of life of people with intellectual disabilities.
Its incorporation into the Ramon Noguera Foundation Group generated new opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities, as its workers now had access to the social resources of the FRN Group. On January 1, 2020, the Onyar La Selva Foundation was dissolved after a period of integration of its services into the Mas Xirgu Foundation, which began to manage them within the Ramon Noguera Foundation Group.
The Ramon Noguera Foundation turns 60 this 2025. And it continues to maintain the firm commitment to improving the quality of life of people with intellectual disabilities in Girona that began in 1965.
Over the years we have grown our network of services, which includes day centres, residences, job placement programmes, childcare and inclusive leisure activities with the aim of promoting a fairer society. Now, we continue to develop projects to raise awareness and defend the rights of people with intellectual disabilities in Girona and the Gironès region.
The Foundation continues to be a fundamental pillar in Girona and the Gironès, offering support to hundreds of families and working for the well-being of people with intellectual disabilities. The history of the Ramon Noguera Foundation is a story of dedication, innovation and commitment to equal opportunities for all.
Our trajectory does not stop.
Origin of the Ramon Noguera Foundation Group logo
The design of our logo is inspired by Leonardo Da Vinci's drawing known as "The Vitruvian Man", dated approximately 1490.
The Vitruvian Man represents a male figure in two superimposed positions of arms and legs, and inscribed in a circle and a square. It is a study of the proportions of the human body, based on architectural texts by Vitruvius, an architect of Ancient Rome.
In our logo, exact lines are drawn that symbolize the opening of the arms and legs of the Vitruvian man, and provide 16 different positions in the form of right triangles. These exact dimensions take us to the excellence of the human body. The circumference allows us to be present in the world, being crossed by straight lines that aim to give a feeling of greater dimension, related to the symbolic value of offering and managing a good quality of life.
The logo has evolved over time, but has always maintained its origin. Da Vinci's geometric play and the staging of ideals represent our will and commitment to excellence and the quality of life of people.
