Third year of university inclusion experiences

10-02-2022

Today we are talking about a collaboration project with the University of Girona that is already fully consolidated. This is a proposal that reached us at the end of 2019 from the Faculty of Education and Psychology of the UdG and which provided for the participation of two users of the Ramon Noguera Foundation in the subject "Expertise and social transformation" of the Degree in Social Education.

At that time, from the foundation we valued it very positively because it was about giving an opportunity to access the university to people who would have a hard time and, at the same time, it was aligned with our goal of working for social inclusion.

Indeed, the experiences have been very positive and, for this reason, this is the third year that this collaboration has taken place. This year, the participants in the subject are two users of the Foundation's Occupational Therapy service: Màrius Gironès and Joan Pujolar, the latter repeating the experience.

Màrius and Joan attend the subject once a week, on Wednesday afternoons, throughout the second semester at the Faculty of Education and Psychology located in the Barri Vell of Girona.

The course aims to be a space for analysis, reflection and shared creation for 3rd and 4th year students of the Degree in Social Education and users of different services where social educators work.

The objectives of the subject are:

· Give value to personal experiences as a source of learning and foundation of proposals for improving socio-educational actions.

· Analyze socio-educational action, taking into account the visions and experiences of service users and experts for their experience.

· Learn strategies to enhance the participation of people using projects and services in the design, implementation and evaluation of programs, projects and socio-educational actions.

The sessions are based on active methodologies that promote the participation of all attendees, such as mixed working groups (undergraduate students in social education and users of the Ramon Noguera Foundation). The evaluation system of the participants of our organization focuses on the commitment of attendance throughout the course and the implementation of the proposed activities.

The Office of the Vice President for Territory and Social Commitment has assumed the cost of tuition for visiting students and, being students of the UdG, gives them access to an academic email to access the moodle and all the documentation of the subject. They can also enjoy the benefits as students of the university community.

From the Ramon Noguera Foundation we are very grateful for the opportunity that Màrius and Joan have this year, and for all the people who have already been there.
