This 2025 we have taken a step forward in our commitment to innovation and new technologies by joining the Rehab-Lab.Cat network. This initiative, led by the iSocial Foundation, has as its main objective the creation of personalized functional aids through 3D printing, thus contributing to promoting the autonomy and well-being of people with functional support needs.
What is Rehab-Lab.Cat?
Rehab-Lab.Cat is a network of European entities that design and manufacture functional adaptations for activities of daily living using 3D printing. In the manufacturing laboratories, the FabLabs, they allow the creation of personalized devices that respond to the individual needs of each person, improving aspects such as mobility, communication and other essential day-to-day skills.
Our involvement
By joining the project, we have installed a FabLab laboratory in our occupational therapy service in Montilivi, in Girona.
To ensure effective implementation of this technology, two professionals from the Foundation have participated in specialized training sessions in the design and manufacture of functional aids with 3D printing. The training has included both technical aspects and the creation methodology, which promotes collaboration between the user and professionals.
Benefits for the people we serve
The integration of 3D printing into our services offers multiple advantages for people with intellectual disabilities:
Personalization: Devices are custom designed, taking into account the individual needs and preferences of each person.
Speed in production: 3D printing technology allows for more agile manufacturing of aids, reducing waiting times.
Empowerment: The active participation of users in the design process encourages their involvement and satisfaction with the final result.
Looking to the future
Our membership in the Rehab-Lab.Cat network not only allows us to improve the services we offer, but also places us in a privileged position to share knowledge and experiences with other entities in the sector. This collaboration encourages us to continue exploring new technologies and methodologies that contribute to the well-being of people with intellectual disabilities.
At the Ramon Noguera Foundation we remain committed to working for a fairer society, where each person has the necessary tools to live independently and with dignity. The incorporation of the Rehab-Lab.Cat project is another example of our commitment to innovation at the service of people.
