"We believe that it is very important to welcome people at risk of social exclusion into the company and that they receive support and monitoring". Montserrat Batllori, head of hospitality at the Maria Gay Geriatric Center in Girona, is very clear: collaborating with the Incorpora program and the Incorpora Training Centers (PFI) is very positive, both for companies with a social commitment and for to people such as Gerard Frigola, who was hired at the center after doing his non-work practice there.
We know the story of Gerard's employment at the Maria Gay Geriatric Center after participating in the Basic Kitchen Operations Course carried out by the PFI and managed by the Ramon Noguera Foundation, an entity of the Incorpora Girona Group.
The role of companies with social commitment in Incorpora's training courses
For approximately two years, Gerard has participated in the Incorpora program through the Ramon Noguera Foundation, where he receives personal and work guidance and where he has been trained in the sector he likes the most, that of hospitality, with the Course d 'Basic Kitchen Operations. "I have also participated in a digital skills training and they have guided me in the job search", adds Gerard.
The Maria Gay Geriatric Center, a geriatric center with a long history and which offers a comprehensive service for the well-being of elderly people with or without dependency, has collaborated with this professional training, which has lasted 300 hours, and has opened the doors of its facilities to participants for the realization of their non-work practices.
Montserrat comments that the center has known the Ramon Noguera Foundation and the Incorpora program of the ”la Caixa” Foundation for a long time, but they have been collaborating with the training courses for approximately two years and, if they have the opportunity , facilitate some job insertion.
"We believe it is very important to welcome people with special needs so that they receive good support and monitoring. In addition, their involvement at work is notable, and we are also here to help them with whatever is needed", affirms Maria Gay, the head of hospitality at the Geriatric Center.
Non-work practices as a way to achieve employment
For Montserrat, the training courses taught at the Incorpora Training Centers "offer many opportunities and open doors for young people", as they allow them to improve and expand their professional experience. In addition, he claims that non-work practices allow companies to get to know them in their day-to-day life and, with this, increase the chances of hiring.
"As a company, we collaborate with everything we can, we provide opportunities and we like to be part of this learning and support. It is a very important and gratifying task", says Montserrat.
"I really appreciate my time in the Incorpora program and give it a rating of ten"
Gerard did the practicals of the Basic Kitchen Operations Course at the Maria Gay Geriatric Center. Montserrat states that "at all times she had great motivation and a good attitude, and carried out the assigned tasks optimally". The assessment of his practices was so positive on the part of the company, that they proposed to him to be part of the staff, which he accepted.
"I really appreciate my time in the Incorpora program and give it a rating of ten," says Gerard. He affirms that the relationship he has had with the Incorpora technicians has been very enriching and positive and, therefore, he has experienced the job placement process "with desire and excitement".
"I have a stable job that I like. I am very happy! I feel like working, improving every day and continuing to achieve my goals. Many thanks to the Incorpora program, the Ramon Noguera Foundation and the Maria Gay Geriatric Center for the opportunity and for helping me so much", concludes Gerard.
