CaixaBank has promoted a meeting between professional Girona Basketball players and 20 boys and girls who are users of the Fundació Ramon Noguera in Girona.
During the day, which took place in the Fontajau pavilion, first team players Jaume Sorolla and Mindaugas Susinkas were in charge of sharing their experiences and their day-to-day life as sports professionals with the boys and girls. The latter had the opportunity to ask questions and show their concerns to the club's players, and after the discussion they were able to take pictures and take away their T-shirts signed by their idols.
Afterwards, different sports activities related to basketball were carried out where the players of Básquet Girona and the users of the Ramon Noguera Foundation enjoyed sharing the Fontajau court playing a game.
This initiative is born from the close collaboration that CaixaBank has as the official sponsor of the club's social activities, and which materializes with various activities and social actions aimed at the territory throughout the sports season.
One of the entities benefiting from this agreement is the Ramon Noguera Foundation, created more than 50 years ago with the aim of guaranteeing the rights of people with intellectual disabilities, improving their quality of life and that of their families , as well as that of children who have difficulties in their development, to promote a more supportive and inclusive society.
According to Pepita Perich, managing director of the Ramon Noguera Foundation, "this action helps to make visible, sensitize and normalize the presence and active participation of people with intellectual disabilities in any activity".
Throughout the sports season, CaixaBank sponsors other social actions of the Girona Basketball club, such as the Mindset Program, a program of English language and healthy and sustainable habits offered to students from schools in Girona's counties in collaboration with players of the first team, or the collaboration program with the Fundació Girona Est, which includes actions with neighborhoods at risk of exclusion through the interaction of their children and young people with the players of the first team of basketball in sports, educational and cultural
