Our experience at the European EASPD conference

21-10-2024

This month we had the opportunity to participate in the conference Opening Doors: How can disability support services unlock the labor market? organized by the EASPD, the European Association of Providers of Services for People with Disabilities. The meeting, held in Athens, was a space for debate and learning for professionals in the third sector. Cristina, one of our professionals from the Guidance and Employment Service, has been in charge of representing the Foundation at this international event.

Your participation has been an opportunity to connect with experts from all over Europe, to learn from the experiences of other countries and to contribute, from our experience, to the debate on how support services can foster greater inclusion employment of people with disabilities.

Support services at the Ramon Noguera Foundation: path towards labor inclusion

People with disabilities face several challenges on their way to the labor market: from social stereotypes and prejudices to the lack of adaptation of work environments. In this context, support services become an essential bridge to bridge these distances, helping both people with disabilities and companies to overcome obstacles and create truly inclusive workplaces.

The programs of the Orientation and Employment Service of the Ramon Noguera Foundation aim to facilitate the transition of people with disabilities towards an accessible and equal work environment. This process includes both training and personalized support as well as working directly with companies to ensure that they integrate the values and the adaptations they can make to support their disabled workers.

Sharing experiences to advance labor inclusion

During the sessions we shared different success stories, ideas and good practices that allowed us to identify new strategies and work tools. One of the common points between the different shared experiences is the need to adapt to the individual needs of each person.

The diversity within disability is very wide, and everyone may require different support depending on their abilities, previous experience or personal conditions. For this reason, support services are essential to understand and attend to each person in a personalized way, thus ensuring that everyone has the same opportunities to develop professionally.

As part of the meeting, the shared commitment of the organizations to build a more inclusive future by creating new opportunities for everyone to have a place in the labor market was made clear.

Disability support services, such as those offered by the Ramon Noguera Foundation, have a direct impact on improving employment opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities. Offering support tools for the development of their skills and abilities.

These services help build a bridge between people and the labor market, giving them the training, tools and support they need to develop their professional skills, while working with businesses to adopt an inclusive approach.

Our participation in the conference has been an enriching experience that allows us to keep moving forward in our daily work with more tools, ideas and motivation to continue working to foster an environment where each person can reach their maximum potential.
