The Councilor for Employment, Social Affairs and Families of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Chakir El Homrani, has opened the event that takes place in Barcelona.
At the local level, they are part of the organization of the Educational Platform Conference, the Ramon Noguera Foundation, the National Confederation of Special Employment Centers, the Fundación Tutelar de las Comarcas Gironinas y Som Foundation.
Today, the international conference "Technology and digitization in support and care services for people. The impact on education, work and independent life" is organized in Barcelona by the European Association of Service Providers for Persons with Disabilities (EASPD), a European entity that brings together social sector providers linked to the world of disability, along with the Educational Platform, the Ramon Noguera Foundation, the National Confederation of Special Employment Centers, the Fundación Tutelar de las Comarcas Gironinas y Som Foundation. The congress, which provides for assistance of 300 people, will be held between today and tomorrow at the premises of the CaixaFòrum in Barcelona.
This morning, Chakir El Homrani, Employment Counselor, Social Affairs and Families of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Jim Crowe, President of the EASPD, Marc Simón, Deputy Director General of the La Caixa Banking Foundation, and Josep Solé Chavero, Director of SUPPORT Fundación Tutelar Girona, have given the start of the event. This is a European-level congress focused on new technologies and disability that will be celebrated, for the first and only time, in the city of Barcelona. During two days, speakers and assistants will analyze the impact of technological innovation in all the vital stages of people with functional diversity: from education to entry into the workplace, through independent life. To do this, experts in technology from all over Europe will participate in the congress to show the possibilities offered by innovation to transform many aspects related to the disability.
The conference includes the participation of representatives from different fields: service providers, public authorities, organizations of people with disabilities, universities, researchers, etc. Through four panels and numerous workshops, topics will be studied such as the economic sustainability of the technology services centered on the person or their ethical and legal frameworks.
