On May 3, the patio of the Diputació de Girona was the scene of the usual reception given by the supramunicipal body to the best teams in Girona of the last edition of the MIC. The 2016 honors were the youthful Llagostera, Gerona Aleví and MAP Abadessenc (MIC Integra) in football, and Vedruna Palamós, CE Palamós, Basketball Girona and the Ramon Noguera Foundation (MIC Integra), in basketball.
Apart from this reception to the outstanding teams of MIC 2018, the main conclusions about the economic impact of the event were made public. The ceremony was attended, among others, by Pere Vila, president of the Diputació de Girona and the Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona; Carles Salgas, Member of Sports; David Bellver, president of MICSports, and Juanjo Rovira, director of the MIC. According to the data presented, the tournament improves the positioning of the Costa Brava as a destination of sports tourism and is projected internationally. "For every euro invested in the administration, there is a return of more than 100", notes the study by Marc Grijalvo, researcher and tourist consultant.
The event budget is set at 2.8 million. The study finds that each euro invested by the public administration "produces a return to the territory exceeding 100 euros". «The MIC and the Costa Brava are a perfect marriage because it adds and continues to offer room for growth», said Grijalvo. In this sense, the analyst added that participants took a very positive impact on their stay in the counties of Girona: "visitors value the tournament and the Costa Brava with scores ranging from 8.3 to 9.3 on 10 »he said.
