The Ramon Noguera Foundation Group is aware that the practice of sport and the enjoyment of leisure is closely related to improving the well-being of people with intellectual disabilities.
That is why we devote a large part of our research to working on models to promote healthy habits for people with intellectual disabilities, through the regular practice of physical activity, leisure activities and the establishment of healthy habits.
From the Montilivi Foundation, one of the entities that make up the Ramon Noguera Foundation Group, we develop our sports program annually with the aim of promoting the right of people with intellectual disabilities to practice physical activity and sport by facilitating the improvement of their quality of life and their social inclusion.
The program has the support and funding of the Provincial Government of Girona through the Program F. of Sports Support adapted to the subsidies of the Provincial Government of Girona for the financing of the action to promote and encourage the activity physics and sport in the regions of Girona.
People with intellectual disabilities who are cared for in the different centers and services of the foundation participate in the program.
Individuals enjoy physical activity sessions approximately 2-3 days per week led by an expert physical and sports science supervisor, including fitness maintenance and adapted swimming sessions.
On the other hand, since the foundation we promote our football and basketball sports teams, with weekly training led by qualified coaches, competing in the respective regional league and other adapted competitions.
The impact of the sports program is highly positive on people, with a direct influence on improving their health and quality of life, feeling that they are participating in a program that promotes social inclusion and enhances personal relationships and their recognition as an active member of the community.
