On September 16, 2024, the Setba Foundation held the 14th Setba Award ceremony, an event that reaffirms art as a driver of social change and recognizes the talent of people with intellectual disabilities. The event, held at CaixaForum Barcelona, brought together artists, professionals from the cultural sector and institutions, highlighting the importance of social inclusion through artistic expression.
This year, more than 1,100 works were presented at the contest, a number that highlights the impact of the initiative, which has become a platform to encourage creativity and new forms of expression for people with intellectual disabilities. intellectual
The awardees
The first prize of this edition went to Ruben Alfonso, from the Ampans foundation, with the work Roots and wings. The second and third prizes went to Marta Cañada, from the occupational center of Sant Tomàs, with the work La Cadira and to Noelia Bernal, also from Ampans, with the work Planetarium.
All three works are spectacular. We encourage you to visit the social networks of each foundation to be able to see them!
This year the Audience Award went to the author of La naturaleza de los bichos, by Raquel Sanz (ARTransforma) and the Bardinet design award to Carlos García of the Prodis Foundation for the creation of the solidarity wine label More Happy, by Lacrima Baccus.
The Foundation at the 14th Setba Award
Regarding our presence in the competition, one of the nine finalist works for the Setba award was Whispering by Marc Barnedes, from our Llagostera Occupational Centre. But that's not all. This year, Som la pera, by Marta Ventura, has also been selected as a finalist for the Audience Award.
Both attended the award ceremony and did very well together. Marta's flatmates didn't want to miss it and all together, with Belen, went down to Barcelona to support them.
It was clear that at the Foundation we not only have a lot of talent, but also a lot of good friends!
Calendar 2025
A particularly emotional moment of the gala was the presentation of the Setba 2025 Prize calendar, a collaboration with the European Institute of Design (IED).
This calendar, which includes reproductions of finalist and winning works from previous editions, is a tribute to artistic talent linked to a solidarity initiative. The profits from its sale will be used to finance the Magistrals project, thus strengthening the Setba Foundation's commitment to social transformation.
Inclusive art at the Pigment Gallery
Art lovers will have a unique opportunity to enjoy these works in an unparalleled setting, as the finalists and winners of the Setba 2024 Prize will be exhibited at the Pigment Gallery in Barcelona from October 10 to 20.
This exhibition is a new opportunity for the public to admire unique creations that not only have great artistic value, but also convey a powerful message of transformation and social inclusion. The Pigment Gallery's collaboration with the Setba Foundation makes it possible to give greater visibility to these artists, demonstrating that art is a powerful tool for the transformation of society.
The exhibition will offer a visual tour of the winning works, immersing viewers in the creative universe of these extraordinary artists, while highlighting the transformative potential of art in the lives of people with intellectual disabilities.
Don't miss it!
