Arrels de Territori: the Foundation's new jewelery collection

22-11-2024

Yesterday we presented the new jewelery collection for the 2024-2025 season, Arrels de Territori , inspired by the most emblematic landscapes of Girona's counties. This year's collection is not only a tribute to the beauty and richness of the territory but also to our own roots as a social entity in Girona.

Each of the five lines of the collection—Cims, Corriols, Volcans, Mar and Girona—captures the essence of an iconic landscape of the province, combining beauty and meaning, but also tells the stories of overcoming and growing people who are part of the Foundation.

The collection shows, once again, the creativity and skills of the people from the Foundation's Occupational Therapy Service, who have handcrafted each of the pieces in the Cims, Corriols, Volcans and Mar collections. This collection reaffirms the Foundation's commitment to art as a tool for inclusion and social transformation.

A tribute to the landscapes of Girona

This year's collection is divided into five lines, each inspired by an emblematic place in the territory:

· Cims reflects the majesty of the highest peaks of the Pyrenees. The designs in this line evoke the strength and serenity that define these mountains. The pieces represent solidity and adaptability, also symbols of the people who have participated in the creative process.
· Corriols , inspired by the deep roots of the earth, symbolizes the power of human connections and the importance of feeling part of a community.
· Volcans , inspired by the power of the living earth, captures the ability to regenerate and transform. The designs in this line convey the power to be reborn in the face of adversity.
· Sea , inspired by the indomitable nature of the sea, highlighting the harmony between fluidity and stability. Like roots that cling to the sand despite the waves, the line symbolizes the balance between constant change and security.
· Girona , the line designed by the jeweler and gemmologist Mariona Quera, is a tribute to the Pont Eiffel (Pont de les Peixateries Velles), the iconic work of Gustave Eiffel. With geometric lines and delicate details, the necklaces capture the essence of an emblematic place in the city.

Crafts with social value

Each piece of jewelry is the result of a project with deep social roots. The people who are part of the Occupational Therapy Service have made each of the pieces by hand, acquiring new artistic and work skills and feeling part of a project that connects them with the community.

The materials used, such as stone, Gavarres cork, sterling silver and macrame thread, have been selected not only from an aesthetic point of view, but also considering the skills and abilities of each person. In addition, each piece is presented with a packaging also made by the participants, adding a unique value to each piece of jewelry.

A concept with emotional depth

The title of the collection, Arrels de Territori. it's not accidental This year's collection honors the physical and emotional connections of the people who are part of the Foundation with the regions of Girona. For the Foundation, this rooting is a reflection of almost six decades of working to improve the quality of life of people with intellectual disabilities and their families.

With this collection, the Foundation reinforces its commitment to the territory, demonstrating, once again, that art and craft are great tools to connect people and transform society.
