The specialized inclusive classroom in El Carrilet de Salt

For 7 years, El Carrilet de Salt nursery school has hosted the initiative promoted by our CDIAP for the specialized care of children aged 0 to 3 with multiple disabilities within an inclusive environment in a public nursery school .

The project was born from the detection of a significant lack of nursery school places for children aged 0 to 3 with severe disabilities in the region of Gironès. Due to the seriousness of the disorders and the complexity of the medical treatments that these children require, they could not be integrated into ordinary children's schools, since these do not have the human, technical resources or the specific training necessary to offer them adequate care .

It was therefore identified the need to create a specialized space that would guarantee personalized and quality attention, adapted to their needs

So, El Carrilet guarantees that during the school year, children receive attention adapted and appropriate to their physical, cognitive and emotional needs. The classroom offers a safe and stimulating environment in which they can develop their skills and abilities, where their autonomy and well-being is promoted through materials designed to stimulate the senses and motor skills. At the same time, guidance and support is also offered to families.

The integration of the classroom in an ordinary nursery school facilitates the interaction between children with special educational needs and the rest of the students. This shared environment favors socialization in a space that promotes coexistence and respect.

The initiative, which has proven to be a successful model for guaranteeing quality care for these children, has the support and funding of the Department of Social Rights of the Generalitat de Catalunya. Thanks to this collaboration, it is possible to offer a fundamental resource for the development and well-being of children with multiple disabilities and their families.
